Tendons are the connective tissues that attach muscle to bone. Usually, these fibrous bands of tissue can undergo heavy tension and activity. However, if they get overused, they can become inflamed which results in Tendonitis developing. At the Dynamic Foot and Ankle Center, we have treated many patients with this condition. We understand that what you want more than anything is probably relief from pain and other symptoms. For more information about how we can help you, contact our team now for an examination appointment!
Tendonitis
Tendonitis results when there is too much pressure being placed on the tendons. Athletes often experience this condition, but they are not the only ones at risk. If you are someone who engages in any kind of repetitive motions over a long period of time, this can cause tendonitis. If you are an athlete, especially one who runs, swims, or golfs, you may be vulnerable to developing tendonitis. Symptoms commonly associated with tendonitis include inflammation, redness, pain, crackling or grating sensations, and lump formation along the tendon. We can perform an examination and diagnose tendonitis to prevent more severe symptoms and avoid rupture of the tendon. The sooner you seek care for tendonitis, the easier it is to resolve.
Rest is an effective way to reduce pain from Tendonitis. We may recommend noninvasive treatments, such as physical therapy, corticosteroid injections, and over-the-counter pain relievers to help with symptoms. Icing, compression, and elevation care at home can relieve inflammation associated with tendonitis. If noninvasive therapies are not effective, other methods may be advised. But before we can conclude which treatments may work best for you, we have to do an examination. If symptoms and pain are preventing you from engaging in work, hobbies, or other activities, now is the time to seek care. The sooner we hear from you, the sooner we can begin using treatment interventions to address root causes. To schedule an appointment with us, reach out now!
